Amy Combs is a self described Cheesemonger. She discovered her true passion early in her career and has spent the last decade selling, teaching, tasting, traveling and storytelling, all with the focus on cheese.
Looking for a change in careers at the age of 21, Amy accepted a job with New Frontiers, a natural food store in Flagstaff. Within months of starting work, she was offered the position of dairy and speciality manager. It was here that Amy found her true passion and fell in love with cheese for what it really is; an old world preservation of the nutritionally unique and highly misunderstood food - milk. For the next 8 years, Amy studied and learned the natural food industry, dairy farming practices and the production of artisan cheese, which culminated in developing a speciality cheese department for New Frontiers.
Amy relocated from Arizona to Denver in 2012 and remained in retail management until she established A Cheese Peddler. This mobile operation was devoted to spreading the good word of artisan cheese as part of the food movement as a whole. It was through A Cheese Peddler that Amy first experimented with cheese and beer pairings, hosting events with local breweries.
Amy recently spent 12 months traveling around Europe, exploring breweries and European cheese... raw bloomy cheese in France, fondue in Switzerland, cured meat in Italy. After returning from her travels, Amy found a perfect fit when she joined Brunson & Co in 2016 as the General Manager and Cheese Guru at Culture, a concept that brings an education-focused approach in presenting artisan cheese and cured meat from around world. Amy believes that cultured food is magic and wants to share her enthusiasm and knowledge with others.
